We are committed to providing you with an excellent and safe clinical learning environment created by our knowledgeable and compassionate faculty. The foundation of our program is providing you with quality clinical training that emphasizes clinical excellence, teamwork, leadership, and career development. Our residents experience a broad range of pathology that prepares them well for careers in hospital medicine, primary care, or fellowship training.

Internal Medicine Residency Program in MaconDuring the three years of your residency, you will have robust clinical exposure to both inpatient and outpatient medicine and gain expertise in office, hospital, and emergency settings. You will have a great degree of autonomy in overseeing patient care as you grow in your competence. You will be part of a program where residents are treated with respect, their needs are responded, and ideas for improvement are considered. Additionally, nurses, pharmacists and other health care providers round with our physician teams in multidisciplinary rounds providing real-time feedback to physicians on issues such as drug-drug interactions, cost of medications, rehabilitation needs and discharge planning, etc.

Internal Medicine Residency Program in MaconThe program offers a dynamic and exciting didactic curriculum that includes both traditional and innovative components as detailed in subsequent pages. The research coordinator helps facilitate residents in creating robust research, publications, and presentations. Our residents are encouraged and supported to engage in scholarly activity, ranging from local and regional presentations, to attending national conferences and publishing scientific manuscripts.

Piedmont Macon is affiliated with Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM), which provides residents with access to library resources, research support, and the opportunity to work with medical students to sharpen their teaching skills and be a mentor.
