Compliance at Piedmont
Piedmont Healthcare's compliance program reflects our system-wide commitment to delivering excellent care while meeting our ethical and legal responsibilities. Our Chief Compliance Officer and the Compliance Department staff work with all levels of the organization to identify and resolve regulatory compliance questions or concerns.
Our commitment is reflected in our Code of Conduct, which all of our facilities' board members, medical staff, senior management, employees, vendors and contractors are required to review at least once a year.

Christopher Terrell is the Chief Compliance Officer for Piedmont Healthcare. In his position, he is responsible for Piedmont’s Regulatory Compliance Department and reports to the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Piedmont board of directors. Mr. Terrell joined Piedmont in October 2019. Prior to joining Piedmont, Mr. Terrell served as the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer & Privacy Officer for Encompass Health (formally HealthSouth) in Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. Terrell’s leadership experience also includes serving as Associate General Counsel for Encompass Health and as an attorney for the Birmingham-based law firm, Balch & Bingham LLP.
Mr. Terrell holds a juris doctor from Washington and Lee University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in history from the College of William & Mary. Mr. Terrell is certified in healthcare compliance and healthcare privacy compliance by the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA). In addition to HCCA, Mr. Terrell is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA).
