A New and Improved Intensive Care Unit
Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown is undergoing a significant renovation and expansion to increase its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) space. Work is underway to build 43 new ICU beds and renovate a 15-bed nursing unit. Construction is tentatively set to be completed in March 2026.
The project is much-needed to expand our critical care area — so our committed team of doctors, intensivists, nurses and support staff can better provide lifesaving patient-centered health care to meet the needs of the growing Columbus and Chattahoochee Valley area.
More About the Project
- Construction will generally take place Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- 99,038 square foot project.
- New ICU rooms will be 2.5x the size of the existing layout.
- Vertical expansion next to the existing Midtown hospital tower.
- The current Midtown facility has been in place since 1983.
- Construction and completion later this year of the Bill and Olivia Amos Children’s Hospital, relocating those pediatric hospital beds to the future freestanding facility, has enabled this project to take shape.
