Pediatric Surgery
We offer a distinctive surgical specialty, provided by highly-skilled surgeons trained in the complexities of treating smaller or underdeveloped patients with unique surgical needs. Examples of services offered include: treatment of congenital, developmental, inflammatory, neoplastic and traumatic conditions as well as diagnostic, operative and postoperative care.
Pediatric Intensive Care
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides specialized care for critically ill or injured infants and children. This unit features thoughtful amenities for parents and other family members who spend hours, and often days, at the hospital to be near their child.
Pediatric Hospitalists
Our dedicated Pediatric Hospitalists are board-certified in pediatrics with extensive pediatric experience. Our physicians are committed to providing skilled and compassionate care with old-fashioned bedside manner and personal attention.
Child Life Services
Our Certified Child Life Specialist strives to create a positive healthcare experience for children, youth and their families. Our goal is to ease the stress and anxiety of medical experiences during hospitalization with effective and developmentally appropriate coping intervention.

Pediatric Emergency Care
Our Pediatric Emergency Room is located just up the hill from the Bill and Olivia Amos Children’s Hospital at Piedmont Columbus Midtown. Providers are board-certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine. Each nurse has extensive experience and knows how to treat children in this setting while working to calm the family.
Pediatric Infusion Services
High-quality outpatient infusion treatments are delivered by qualified pediatric nurses to children up to the age of 18. The nursing staff provides close monitoring and observation during all treatments. Infusion Services are designed to provide accessible, convenient outpatient care for a variety of patients that require regular intravenous (IV) infusion therapy for conditions such as diabetes, Crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, immunodeficiency disorders, sickle cell disease and others. Each patient receives treatment in a comfortable private room in a child-friendly environment complete with seating for their parent or guardian. Child Life Services are available during the infusion to ensure the process is developmentally appropriate and non-traumatic. Pediatric Endocrinology
We have the only pediatric endocrinologist in the Chattahoochee Valley. Leopoldo Maldonado, MD, is the Director of the Pediatric Endocrinology program, which consists of certified diabetes educators and registered dieticians— offering a comprehensive service for patients with type 1 diabetes.
Pediatric Neurology
Pierre Fequiere, MD, is the only pediatric neurologist in the Chattahoochee Valley. He is well versed in pediatric neuromuscular disease and performs nerve conduction studies, Electromyography (EMG) and much more. Dr. Fequiere, Tara Smith, NP, and the team also treat seizures, headaches, movement disorders and other neurological issues.
