Our Elite Primary Care Track aims to provide innovative, patient-based and learner-centered primary care training, preparing trainees to deliver outstanding care in the outpatient setting. The track is fully integrated within the categorical residency training program yet distinct in its primary and ambulatory care emphasis. The program is designed for residents considering general medicine or fellowship training leading to careers in health policy, health services research, quality improvement, clinical epidemiology, or medical education, providing flexibility in our curriculum to prepare graduates for these areas.
Our Primary Care Track is dedicated to preparing future healthcare leaders with comprehensive training and experiences that align with the evolving needs of outpatient medicine. Our goals and objectives include:
- Networking with Local Physicians- We actively network with local outpatient primary care physicians across various specialties to build strong professional relationships and enhance collaborative learning.
- Advocacy and Leadership- Participation in the American College of Physicians (ACP) Advocacy Day at the Georgia Capitol is a cornerstone of our program. We are committed to understanding and influencing healthcare policy, advocating for our patients, and shaping the future of primary care.
- Updates in Outpatient Medicine- We regularly review and discuss the latest updates in outpatient medicine, focusing on critical areas such as cardiovascular risk management, diabetes care, and preventive screenings.
- Hands-On Skills Workshops- Our program includes hands-on workshops to master essential outpatient procedures, including spirometry, audiometry, and tonometry. These workshops are designed to ensure our participants are proficient and confident in their clinical skills.
- Social Determinants of Health- Understanding the importance of advocacy, social determinants of health, and population health is integral to our training. We emphasize the need for physicians to address these factors in their daily practice to improve patient outcomes.
- Business of Medicine- We provide insights into the business aspects of medicine, helping participants navigate the financial, managerial, and organizational challenges of running a successful practice.
