A Founder’s Enduring Legacy
Dr. Mark Silverman, who started the cardiology program at Piedmont Hospital and directed its educational program for many years, left an enduring legacy of commitment to education and medical scholarship at Piedmont. The Mark E. Silverman Endowed Chair in Cardiology and Education was established to further the realization of Dr. Silverman’s vision. Under the leadership provided in this position, a comprehensive program is constructed to highlight each of the disciplines and clinical pathways represented at Piedmont Heart.
Annual Silverman Event
Piedmont Heart hosts an annual reception and educational event to pay tribute to Dr. Silverman and his legacy. Internationally recognized guest speakers join us at Piedmont to serve as honorees in the role of the Mark Silverman Visiting Professorship. They will present on topics that embrace and capture Dr. Silverman’s commitment to providing meaningful educational experiences in cardiology and medicine for physicians, nurses, patients and the community.
