Cardiovascular Disease Track
The PHI PA/NP Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease is a collaborative 12-month program where the fellow will have the opportunity to work with leading cardiovascular providers from multiple cardiovascular subspecialties. The greatest portion of time will be spent with the Inpatient General Cardiology Service at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital – with separate rotations in Electrophysiology, Advanced Heart Failure, Marcus Heart Valve Center, Ambulatory Clinic, Critical Care, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Vascular Surgery. The fellow will have the opportunity to select one 4-week elective rotation, which can be from the Core 8 rotations or something of interest to the fellow.
Learning Objectives for this Fellowship Program are based on the 2020 American College of Cardiology Clinical Competencies for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in Adult Cardiovascular Medicine. Reading assignments will be listed for each rotation and parallel the objectives for the rotation. The fellow can expect to give quarterly case presentations, as well as, take quarterly exams.
Fellows will acquire skills necessary to contribute to the management of advanced cardiac disease pathophysiology, such as cardiogenic shock, advanced coronary disease, cardiac arrhythmias, advanced heart failure, and valvular heart disease. Fellows will have exposure to cardiac catheterization, peripheral angiography, echocardiography, cardiac PET, and cardiac MR/CT. Fellow responsibilities include, but are not limited to, consulting, admitting, and rounding on patients.
