Piedmont Newnan Visitor Information
Care Partner Policy (Updated December 4, 2024)
A Care Partner may be a relative, partner, friend, or anyone the patient chooses to have at their side during care. A Care Partner takes an active role in caring for their loved one in the hospital.
All visiting children must be supervised at all times by an adult other than the patient. Visiting children may not stay overnight.
Some departments have limitations to visiting hours and/or the number of support persons allowed per patient:
- Emergency Department – allowed ONE support person, with the exception of minors receiving care who may have both parents/legal guardians present.
- Surgical Services – visitation guidelines vary by department
- Women’s Services – visitation guidelines vary by department
Our focus remains on the safety of our patients and staff. The number of care partners allowed in a patient’s room is subject to change depending on their care needs.
Everyone who enters the hospital, including support person(s), must follow safety guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We recommend washing your hands often while visiting (hand sanitizing stations are located throughout the hospital).
Other ways to stay closely connected to your loved ones:
Piedmont encourages the use of electronic devices to communicate with patients who are hospitalized.
Piedmont Newnan Hospital is a healing environment, and behavior that compromises staff or patient safety will not be tolerated. Our employees have the right to be treated with dignity and respect at all times. Please respect their right to do their jobs without physical/verbal abuse or discrimination of any kind. We reserve the right to revoke visitation privileges for any behavior that jeopardizes the care or safety of the patient or failure to respond to staff instructions.
No Patient Left Alone Act
During the 2024 legislative session, the Georgia General Assembly passed the No Patient Left Alone Act, which was signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp on May 6, 2024, and made effective on July 1, 2024. This legislation establishes visitation rights for individuals admitted to hospitals and long-term care facilities.
