Ambulatory Treatment Center

If you’re an adult and need outpatient chemotherapy, blood transfusions or medication infusion therapy, the Ambulatory Treatment Center (ATC) at Piedmont Athens Regional is here for you.

Our skilled nurses offer you compassionate care and exceptional training as they work with your physician and our pharmacists to provide you treatment in the safety of a hospital setting. We have certification from the Oncology Nurses Society of Chemotherapy and our nurses receive continuous education to maintain skills.

Planning for Your Appointment

  • Bring a list of your medications you take at home and any medications you will need during your treatment.
  • You may eat before your treatment unless your physician specifically told you not to eat. Complimentary beverages are available.
  • During your treatment, you'll have a private room with either a bed or a recliner. Friends and family are welcome. It's not an appropriate setting for small children. Out of respect for our other patients, we ask for limited visitors.
  • Length of treatment times vary.
  • It's a good idea to have someone available to drive you home after treatment. Any patients receiving narcotics during treatment must have someone drive them home.
  • As a patient of the Ambulatory Treatment Center, you also have access to our support services. The Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support, Social Work Services, Chaplain, and alternative therapies give guidance and comfort to patients and families.
