Acute Care needs volunteers seven days a week.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Greeting and giving directions to patients and visitors
- Assisting with special events and projects (like holiday decorating, etc.)
- Aiding in discharging patients
- Transporting items to patients, such as flowers, ice, blankets and magazines
- Performing various errands as assigned, such as returning telemetry boxes
- Offering comfort and support to patients and families
- Offering coffee and juice to families
- Talking with patients and families
- Answering the phone
- Providing escort to patients and families
- Providing information about hospital services
- Providing wheelchair/staxi transportation
- Monitoring nursing units/hospital for cleanliness
There is no lifting and there are no hazardous materials involved. Adults and teens are welcome to volunteer for Acute Care.
