Marie Coker RT(R)(T)
Marie is registered in diagnostic x-ray and radiation therapy, and has 41 years of experience. She works closely with physician practices and neurosurgeons to ensure all requests are correctly and efficiently handled.
Performing cervical (neck) and lumbar (low back) x-rays are a common part of Marie's day. During her extensive work experience, she has seen many advances in radiology. The x-ray machine and table pictured below is one example. Sometimes, the surgeon needs to see the entire length of the spine—such as a patient with scoliosis (abnormal side-to-side curve of the spine). Instead of providing separate images of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, this equipment enables images to be "stitched" together into one continuous x-ray picture.
X-Ray Suite
Marie is very compassionate with patients and "likes her patients to know they are cared for." She enjoys walking patients down the hall or to the location of their next appointment. Often, she sees the same patient before and after surgery. Marie finds it rewarding to see patients again and learn how well they are doing after spine surgery!
Mitchell Britt Cody RT(R)(CT)
Britt is a registered radiologic technologist with 30 years of experience working in MRI and CT. He can perform MRI studies with and without contrast. Sometimes the surgeon requests contrast to increase the visibility of certain parts of the patient's anatomy, such as the spine.
Britt enjoys the flexibility Piedmont Imaging Services offers patients. A MRI can be scheduled to accommodate the patient's appointment time with a Piedmont Spine Center physician or surgeon. In fact, he says, "more than once, patients who were worked into the schedule required urgent transportation to Piedmont Hospital's emergency room."
MRI Suite
What is unique about the MRI suite at Piedmont Imaging Services? The diagnostic suite (above) has large picture windows that flood the room with natural light which can benefit patients who experience claustrophobia.
