Piedmont Augusta Vascular Lab
Piedmont Augusta's Vascular Lab on the first floor of Piedmont Heart building features multiple treatment rooms and a large patient waiting room.
Typically, Vascular Lab patients undergo noninvasive tests using ultrasound imaging and Doppler to check for obstruction of arteries and veins, including atherosclerosis (plaque) and venous thrombosis (blood clots).
Piedmont Augusta’s Vascular Lab is fully accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories. Piedmont Augusta is the only hospital in the surrounding area to receive accreditation in five types of noninvasive vascular testing in which accreditation can be obtained.
Through the efforts of the vascular surgeons, neurologists and registered vascular technologists who practice at Piedmont Augusta, the Vascular Lab is recognized regionally as the premier center for noninvasive vascular diagnostics.
Vascular Studies
Vascular non-invasive tests are beneficial in the assessment of peripheral vascular disease or circulation disorders. Using various ultrasound and pressure recording techniques, the arteries and veins of the extremities can be studied. In addition, these exams can identify abnormalities in the carotid arteries of the neck and also the abdominal aorta.
