Archna Becker, executive chef and owner of Bhojanic Restaurant and Catering, dishes up the best way to add an Indian flare to cooked okra.
“Okra is an amazing green vegetable,” Becker says. “Not only is it healthy, but it’s also delicious. If you have spices and a few ingredients at home, you can make anything taste Indian.”
Becker says there are several ways to cook okra.
“You can cut it into small little circles,” Becker says. “Or if you would like to grill okra, you slit it in the middle, drizzle a little olive oil on top and then add some ground spices.”
Grind up some cumin, coriander, red chili powder, fennel powder and turmeric powder.
“These spices hold for a long time,” Becker says. “It’s super easy to bring a little ethnicity to the things you cook already.”
