As the new school year approaches, fall sports and back-to-school events are just around the corner.
Appointments can fill up fast during the busy season of physical exams, so now is the time to jump ahead of the curve to ensure a healthy start, as many teams and camps require a physical and, often, up-to-date vaccinations before a child’s participation.
“Children’s health screenings and status is important to many teams and entities as it can help them best accommodate the child’s needs,” said Patrick Railey, M.D., Chief, Primary Care, Piedmont. “Physicals also provide a proactive approach to identifying those who may be at higher risk for injuries or other health conditions. Piedmont offers convenient ways for parents and guardians to do so and get quality care close to home.”
Physicals are generally brief and include checking vitals, vision, joints, flexibility and medical history. A fitness assessment may also be performed to determine potential physical limitations.
Appointments can be scheduled with a primary care family medicine physician or at one of the 25 Piedmont QuickCare locations through MyChart, online at piedmont.org, or by calling any of the locations directly. Same-day services are also conveniently offered at our 72 Piedmont Urgent Care clinics, as well as at Piedmont QuickCare locations based on availability.
