Berries have big health benefits, so why not add them to a festive cocktail or mocktail? Chef Nancy Waldeck of Thomas F. Chapman Family Cancer Wellness at Piedmont developed this light, refreshing drink that's perfect for summer festivities. As always, we encourage you to drink alcohol responsibly and in moderation.
Makes six drinks
Ingredients:
- 16 large strawberries, stems and leaves removed
- 4 large basil leaves
- 4 large mint leaves
- 1 tablespoon agave syrup
- 1/3 cup freshly-squeezed lime juice
- 6 ounces white rum (optional)
- Lime wheels for garnish
Whiz the strawberries, basil, mint, agave syrup and lime juice together in a blender. Pour into six glasses filled with ice cubes. For a cocktail, add 1 ounce of white rum to each glass and then add club soda. For a “mocktail," top off the berry basil mix with club soda. Garnish with lime.
