That's why it's important to schedule an annual physical with a primary care physician to assess your total body health. Your doctor will do a full-body exam and run lab work using blood or urine samples to check your cholesterol, blood sugar, kidney function, liver function, and potassium, sodium and iron levels. He or she will also check your blood pressure and weight.
If you are 50 or older, you will also need a yearly prostate assessment.
