Jasper, GA. (February 24, 2025) – After serving as the Hospitalist Medical Director at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital, Vimal Patel, D.O., has been promoted to Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Piedmont Mountainside. In his new role, Dr. Patel will oversee all medical operations, ensuring the highest patient care and medical excellence standards.
During his tenure as Hospitalist Medical Director, Dr. Patel focused on reducing excess patient days by facilitating quicker discharges and ensuring seamless transitions of care. As a member of the credentials committee, he played a key role in onboarding new physicians. Dr. Patel enhanced collaboration by instituting the MegaHuddle to incorporate hospital-wide department participation. Additionally, he utilized evidence-based studies to improve patient satisfaction with hospitalist information cards and participated in the Hospital Medicine Clinical Governance Council.

Dr. Patel’s journey to healthcare leadership began with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri, followed by a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine.
