Augusta, Ga. (June 17, 2024) – Piedmont Augusta Vascular Surgeon Houman Tamaddon, M.D, has been recognized as one of America’s Best Vascular Surgeons for 2024 by Newsweek. The complete list can be found on Newsweek’s website. This marks the first edition of best vascular surgeons list that includes 200 doctors nationwide.
Dr. Tamaddon specializes in Vascular Surgery and leads the region in limb salvage and amputation prevention therapies. His interests include Complex Aortic Cases, Aneurysm repair, multiple Endovascular procedures, Carotid Stenting, and Angioplasty. Dr. Tamaddon offers treatment for patients with Atherosclerosis, Carotid Artery Disease, Pulmonary Embolism and Deep Vein Thrombosis. He is Board Certified in Vascular Surgery and is a clinical research leader in Pulmonary Embolism care. Dr. Tamaddon is the Medical Director for Vascular Surgery at Piedmont Augusta.
Following his undergraduate studies, he earned his medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University Center in Syracuse, NY and completed both his general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship at the University of North Carolina.
Dr. Tamaddon is currently leading the area in a national study on pulmonary embolism (PE) patients treated with medical thrombectomy.

•Physician Performance Data: Based on Medicare data from CareJourney, an evaluation of the physician’s performed procedures was conducted.
•Online Survey by State: During the survey period from March to April 2024, thousands of medical experts (physicians with knowledge in the field of vascular surgery, managers/administrators and other medical professionals in the field of vascular surgery) were invited to an online survey via Newsweek.com.
•Quality Score: For recommendations in their own state, participants were asked to assess the quality of care (e.g. treatments, follow-up care, use of most recent equipment) for each vascular surgeon.
•Certifications: Board certifications by The American Board of Surgery were taken into consideration for all eligible vascular surgeons.
