Monroe, Ga. (October 4, 2023)— Gary Milwood was leaving his shift at Hitachi one evening when he misstepped off the curb, causing him to fall. As co-workers tried to help him up, it became apparent he had injured his leg and was unable to put weight on it to walk.

Milwood arrived at Piedmont Walton Hospital's emergency room by ambulance, where x-rays revealed that his hip was broken. The emergency department physician called in James Steinberg, D.O., an orthopedic surgeon at Piedmont Orthopedics | OrthoAtlanta Monroe, who told Milwood he would need surgery to repair his hip, so he was admitted to the hospital and Dr. Steinberg performed the surgery the next morning.

“Dr. Steinberg was so thorough, and I immediately felt comfortable with him,” said Milwood. “I knew that I was in good hands, and all I needed to do was focus on my recovery.”

Milwood says the surgery was successful, and he continues to receive positive reports from Dr. Steinberg during his post-surgical follow-up office visits.
