Newnan, Ga. (April 7, 2025) – Piedmont Newnan is proud to announce an upcoming community wellness event to honor and support the unsung heroes of cancer care - the caregivers. The event will be hosted in partnership with The Great Eight, a group of professional women in West Central Georgia dedicated to service and community impact.

“Care for the Caregivers” will take place at 10 a.m. on April 16, 2025, in the Thomas F. Chapman Family Cancer Wellness Center, located at 775 Poplar Road, Suite 340, Newnan, GA 30265, in Piedmont Medical Plaza 1, adjacent to the hospital.

“We are excited to host this event in our cancer wellness center and provide an opportunity to focus on the caregivers who support our cancer patients throughout their cancer journey,” said Marsha Suber, director of Oncology Services at Piedmont Newnan. “This event aims to honor their dedication and focus on their well-being and unique challenges so they can continue to provide the best care for their loved ones.”

Caregivers play a critical role in the lives of cancer patients, often sacrificing their own well-being to provide emotional, physical, and logistical support. This event aims to provide these individuals with the tools, resources, and encouragement they need to prioritize their own self-care. Attendees will receive a wellness bag filled with thoughtful items such as cozy blankets, organizational binders, affirmation cards, and more, as well as information about a virtual support group led by mental health counselors, offering a safe space to share, heal and connect with other caregivers.

“Caregivers give so much of themselves, often without recognition or support,” said Cassondra Powell, a member of The Great Eight. “This event is our way of saying ‘thank you’ and reminding them that their well-being matters too.”
