Augusta, Ga. (February 25, 2025) – Piedmont Augusta has named Lieutenant Jeff Brown with the Richmond County Marshal’s Office the organization’s First Friday Hero for the month of January.
Recently, Jeff Brown came running into the EMS entrance asking for help. Two Piedmont nurses followed him outside to find a child experiencing seizures in his mother's car. The child's mother was driving when he began having a seizure, so she flagged down Jeff Brown for assistance. He quickly escorted them to the ER for treatment. As hospital staff began working to get the child out of the car and into the ER, Brown remained with the mother. He reassured her that we would take excellent care of her child and kept her calm. Then he parked her vehicle and brought the keys inside so she could stay with her son the whole time.
A ceremony with Lieutenant Brown and hospital leadership was held earlier this week to commend him for his selfless service to others. He received a commemorative plaque from the hospital.
Piedmont Augusta is launching the First Friday Hero program to recognize first responders who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Lieutenant Brown with the Richmond County Marshal’s Office is the first person to be recognized by the new program.
“The first responders in the CSRA are all truly heroes,” said Piedmont Augusta CEO Lily Henson. “Their line of work is often dangerous and often thankless, and we want to make the community aware of all they do to make our communities a better and safer place.”
