Piedmont Walton to Host Second Annual Cookout for a Cause in October

Monroe, Ga. (September 6, 2024) – Piedmont Walton Hospital is hosting its second annual Cookout for a Cause on October 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Piedmont Walton Hospital campus. All proceeds from the cookout will benefit the new Breast Imaging Center at Piedmont Walton.

Piedmont Walton will soon begin renovations of a dedicated space located in the two-story medical office building adjacent to the main hospital that will become the Breast Imaging Center. The new center will offer comprehensive breast health services including two 3D mammography units, as well as a new state-of-the-art ultrasound room which will be equipped using the funds raised at the cookout. A dedicated ultrasound room in the Breast Imaging Center will allow patients to have biopsies on-site, rather than having to refer patients to other Piedmont hospitals out of the county.

"We are excited to host the second annual Cookout for a Cause," said Heather Allison, director of community relations at Piedmont Walton. "Piedmont Walton’s team is looking forward to welcoming back friends and neighbors to this year’s cookout. As a nonprofit system, we exist to serve our communities and we appreciate the support we receive from our community partners. This allows us to continue to expand our clinical services and provide care close to home."

Individual lunch tickets cost $15 each, or attendees can purchase a ticket and event t-shirt bundle for $30. Bundles are available for pre-order through Sept. 30. There are also sponsorship opportunities available that include a specified number of lunch tickets and t-shirts. The sponsorships deadline is Sept. 20, to secure full sponsor benefits. This year’s presenting sponsor is Athens Radiology Associates whose radiologists work in Piedmont Walton’s mammography department helping diagnose and prevent breast cancers and the Piedmont Walton Hospital medical staff.

Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. Piedmont Healthcare Foundation is a federally certified 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
