Columbus, Ga. (September 25, 2024) – Piedmont Columbus Regional’s John B. Amos Cancer Center, in partnership with the Urology Center of Columbus and Centricity Research, offered free prostate cancer screenings for men ages 40-69 on Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the John B. Amos Cancer Center's Radiation Oncology (back entrance). No pre-registration is required. Fifty-one men received a free screening.
“African American men and those with a family history have a higher risk of developing prostate cancer,” said John B. Amos Cancer Center radiation oncologist Eugene Charles Fortune IV, M.D. “It’s important to stay in the game because prostate cancers detected early typically have the highest cure rates.”
At the event, men also learned how nutrition plays a factor in cancer prevention. Call 706-320-8618 for more information on how to join the free prostate cancer monthly support group.
