Volunteer at Piedmont Augusta

Volunteer Services

Your time is a valuable resource with the incredible potential to help others. How would you like to make a personal investment of your time in a place that makes a difference in our community? Hundreds of men and women of all ages have found fulfilling volunteer positions and have provided much-needed services at Piedmont Augusta since 1949. Piedmont is blessed with an amazing group of volunteers. Piedmont Augusta Volunteer Services has contributed more than $10 million to the hospital. Annually, volunteers donate more than 35,000 hours of service in over 30 hospital departments and donate to hospital programs, equipment and initiatives. Whether assisting departments that support patient care or being involved in fundraising efforts, Piedmont Augusta volunteers impact our community. Their efforts are priceless.

Service Opportunities

Piedmont Augusta offers more than 30 volunteer service areas. Available assignments are based on the volunteers' talents, abilities and interests and on the hospital's needs. Certain volunteer positions require additional training. Volunteer areas include:

  • Transportation
  • Sunshine Gift Shop
  • Uniform Shop
  • Information Centers
  • Coffee Cart
  • Needlework: Items for patients
  • Clerical/Office Assistant
  • Physical/Occupational Therapy
  • Cardiopulmonary Rehab
  • Emergency Department
  • Endoscopy Department
  • Patient Care Areas
  • Breast Health Center

Adult and College volunteers must complete an application, attend an orientation, purchase a uniform and give at least six hours a month in a designated service. Volunteers are recognized annually for their service.

Volunteer Board

Piedmont Augusta certainly could not offer the same level of service to patients and their families without the support in hours and dollars of our Volunteer Board.

College Volunteers

College Volunteers enrolled in a local university or college are welcome to apply. Participation in the program requires a program fee of $55. This fee covers the cost of your volunteer t-shirt and your background check.

Junior Volunteers

Rising high-school freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors may participate in our Junior Volunteer program. Our Junior Volunteer Summer Program Application opens each year in February. Since the annual program begins in early summer, interviews are held in March, with an orientation in late May/early June. Junior volunteers are expected to serve a minimum of 36 volunteer hours during the six-week program. Once selected, Junior Volunteers are required to provide up-to-date immunization records and meet all Piedmont Employee Health requirements, including current tuberculosis screening(s).

The 2025 Junior Volunteer Summer Program Application is now available. We must receive your completed application and reference form before you will be sent a link to reserve your in-person interview timeslot.

The deadline for the application is March 7th, at 4:00 P.M.
