Here at Piedmont Heart Institute, we are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Thoracic Surgeon to co-lead the development and implementation of a new Lung Transplant program at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, alongside the Transplant Pulmonology Medical Director. The successful candidate will establish and co-manage all aspects of the program, from patient evaluations and surgical procedures to post-transplant care and follow-up. This individual will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care for our patients.
Ideal candidate will be able to perform all the following responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the lung transplant program following CMS and UNOS/OPTN policies and best practices.
- Evaluate potential transplant lung candidates and determine eligibility for surgery
- Perform lung transplant surgeries and post-operative care for patients
- Coordinate with transplant coordinators, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless care for patients
- Provide education and support to patients and their families throughout the transplant process
- Participate in research and quality improvement to enhance the program and patient outcomes
