Description: Job Description and Responsibilities:
The Program Director is expected to design and conduct the program in a fashion that is consistent with the mission of the Sponsoring Institution and the Residency Program. Within that framework the Program Director will be responsible for:
- Oversight of the processes and procedures related to accreditation and compliance with ACGME requirements and Piedmont policies
- Oversight of the committee structure required for the program as well as participation on program and institutional committees
- Continuing to participate actively in scholarly activity
- Developing a comprehensive curriculum that both prepares residents for the next stages in their careers and meets program and institutional requirements
- Administering and maintaining a learning environment conducive to educating the residents in each of the ACGME competency domains at each participating site within the program
- Overseeing the resident recruitment process while aligning with the mission of both the program and sponsoring institution
- Developing and overseeing a process to evaluate candidates prior to approval as program faculty members for participation in the residency program education and at least annually thereafter
- Submitting accurate and complete information required and requested by the DIO, GMEC and ACGME
- Continuing to practice clinically within a teaching service line or department with regular contact with residents
Requirements:
- MD/DO or equivalent
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine with ongoing maintenance of certification
- Minimum 3 years of administrative and educational experience within graduate medical education (program director experience strongly preferred)
- Outstanding leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills
