Stockbridge, Ga. (February 5, 2025) – Piedmont Henry Hospital celebrated the topping out of its new patient tower today. The $212 million project will add 96 new/additional inpatient rooms, as well as a new dining area and kitchen, and three additional operating rooms, giving the hospital a total of 14.

Hospital staff and community members gathered for a topping out ceremony to celebrate this significant milestone in the construction process. The final beam, which was signed by hospital staff the week leading up to the ceremony, was hoisted by the tower crane into place during the event.

“This is an exciting milestone for this hospital and the community,” said David Kent, CEO of Piedmont Henry. “The expansion of the OR will provide more access with shorter wait times for high-end surgical procedures closer to home, while the extra patient rooms will help improve wait times in the emergency department, which is one of the busiest in the Piedmont system.”

In addition to being designated a Level III Trauma Center, Piedmont Henry has also recently increased its use of robotic assisted surgery, brought in world-class physicians, and maximized space, both on campus and adjacent, to provide safe, high-quality care.

The hospital held its groundbreaking ceremony last May and has been a hotbed of activity since. At peak construction, the project will have over 400 construction workers working at the same time. Construction is estimated to be completed in Summer 2026. Once complete, the hospital’s capacity will increase to 355 licensed beds.
