Monroe, Ga. (February 6, 2025) – Piedmont Walton Hospital is proud to announce that Officer Michael Beasley with the Loganville Police Department has been recognized for his heroic actions when responding to a 9-1-1 call. Officer Beasley was dispatched to a scene where he encountered a male victim suffering from a critical gunshot wound and bleeding profusely. Without hesitation, Officer Beasley knelt in a pool of the victim’s blood and began applying direct pressure to the wounds.
The victim, conscious and pleading for his life, was reassured by Officer Beasley, who calmly promised to do everything within his power to save him. Medical professionals later stated that Officer Beasley’s swift and decisive action was crucial in saving the victim’s life. Police Chief M.D. Lowry also expressed immense pride in Officer Beasley’s actions, stating that he fulfilled the highest obligation to the citizens he serves.
“Walton County first responders are vital to the safety and well-being of our communities,” said Piedmont Walton CEO Blake Watts. “Their line of work is often dangerous and often thankless, but impactful to so many. The First Friday Hero award allows us to make the community aware of what first responders do to make a positive difference in the lives of those they touch.”
In recognition of his life-saving performance of duty, Officer Beasley was also presented with a letter of commendation from the Loganville Police Department.
Piedmont Walton launched the First Friday Hero program in 2024 to recognize first responders who exceed the call of duty. Officer Beasley is the fifth person to receive the award.
