Piedmont Named to Newsweek’s America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2025

Atlanta, Ga. (December 26, 2024) – For the third year in a row, Piedmont has earned recognition as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2025 by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group.

In its announcement, Newsweek cites research that suggests nearly 80 percent of U.S. workers believe it's important for companies to foster an inclusive culture.

“It is one of our organizational priorities to be an employer of choice for a top-tier and diverse workforce and this demonstrates that we are succeeding in that area,” Piedmont Healthcare President and CEO Kevin Brown said. “We are happy to see that our cultural norms around diversity and equity are being recognized, now for the third year in a row.”

During the selection process, Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group assessed publicly accessible data, discussions / interviews with HR professionals, and large-scale confidential online surveys and interviews conducted among more than 339,000 randomly selected employees from U.S. companies that employ more than 1,000 employees in 2024.

An estimated 4.8 million comprehensive company reviews were collected. Respondents provided insights and experiences on corporate culture, working conditions, and other aspects of their current employer and other companies they know.

“Embedded in our values is our commitment to a diverse, inclusive, and engaging environment for both our patients and our employees,” Piedmont Chief Human Resources Officer Alison Smith said. “This award from Newsweek validates our commitment that our employees are respected and valued for the unique contributions they make towards Piedmont’s Promise to make a positive difference in every life we touch.”

Piedmont’s Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion Jo Anne Hill is responsible for ensuring that Piedmont’s employment strategies and actions are reflective of its diverse marketplace. Since joining Piedmont in 2019, she established Diversity Councils throughout the Piedmont system.

“The purpose of the Diversity Council is to ensure that Piedmont fully engages all of its human resource assets to positively impact patient care and satisfaction, employee performance, workforce morale, employee retention, and the overall performance of Piedmont,” Hill said. “This award is a reflection of the positive impact that our Diversity Councils are making.”
