Conyers, Ga. (December 23, 2024) – Piedmont Rockdale Hospital had more than 100 trotters at Wheeler Park, supporting the Turkey Breast Trot 5K Walk/Run. The efforts of the survivors, sponsors, and team support helped to raise over $19,000 to provide vital oncology services care in Rockdale County.

“This race is a way to support health initiatives and for the community to receive the care they need, close to home,” said Monica Hum, M.D., Piedmont Rockdale’s chief executive officer.

From the money raised, it will be used to start a cancer wellness program to provide cancer wellness services for all cancer patients at any point in their journey, including:

• educational support
• nutrition guidance
• stress reduction techniques
• support groups to help patients improve their quality of life before, during or after treatment.

“We are so thankful to our sponsors and those who came to show their support for our cancer survivors, those still going through treatment, and those who are being remembered,” said Dr. Hum. “Saving lives through the early detection of cancer is made possible by local support and everyone who registered for the race. For that, we thank you.”
