Monroe, Ga. (December 19, 2024) – Piedmont Walton Hospital announced that the 2024 Cookout for a Cause raised more than $39,000 to support the expansion of breast health services in the community and the new Breast Imaging Center scheduled to open in 2025.
“We are incredibly grateful to each person and business that donated to the Cookout for a Cause,” said Blake Watts, Piedmont Walton Hospital CEO. “As a nonprofit, we rely on the generosity of donors to support and grow many of our programs and services. When businesses and individuals donate to events like the cookout, it demonstrates their desire to continue growing high-quality health services closer to home.”
Piedmont Walton is in the final phase of an expansion project to build a dedicated Breast Imaging Center in the Medical Office Building adjacent to the main. The new center will open after the first of the year, offering comprehensive breast health services including two 3D mammography units and a new state-of-the-art ultrasound room. Proceeds from the cookout will be used to purchase the new equipment.
Athens Radiology Associates and the Piedmont Walton Medical Staff were the presenting sponsors of the cookout. A total of 39 businesses and individuals sponsored this year’s event.
