Monroe, Ga. (August 15, 2024) – Piedmont Walton Hospital’s Auxiliary recently awarded the Sara B. Haynes scholarship to Peyton Morrow, a nursing student at Athens Technical College.

Morrow, a former dental assistant, has worked in the medical field as a licensed practical nurse since 2021. She is currently in the LPN to RN (registered nurse) program at Athens Technical College, where she has maintained a 3.7 GPA in her healthcare classes. Students in the Athens Tech nursing program often complete clinical rotations at a Piedmont facility, with many choosing to accept positions with Piedmont after they graduate. 

The Auxiliary established the scholarship in 2023 in honor of Sara B. Haynes, credited with founding the hospital’s auxiliary in 1970. The scholarship was created for a student currently studying within the medical field at an accredited Georgia school and is a Georgia resident.
