Athens, Ga. (June 12, 2024) – Piedmont Athens Regional recently participated in the Clarke County School District Educator Externship program. The program is designed to give teachers or other educators insider access to career opportunities and the skills required for them to better advise their middle and high school students’ college and career plans.

Several Athens-Clarke County employers hosted 30 teachers and other educators, teaching them about local career opportunities available in modern manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, and craft beer brewing. During the week-long externship, in addition to spending time at Piedmont Athens Regional, the educators also visited Athens Technical College and the Athens Community Career Academy. 

During the program’s closing ceremony, each educator shared what they learned about the businesses and various jobs and how they feel about coaching and educating their students on various career opportunities upon graduation.
