Piedmont Henry Awards Eight Joyce Rodgers Healthcare Scholarships

Stockbridge, Ga. (June 7, 2024) — Joyce Rodgers has been a longtime supporter of Piedmont Henry Hospital. A former nurse with the Henry County Health Department, Rodgers served on the Piedmont Henry Hospital Board of Directors for three, four-year terms. To thank her for her service, she was honored by the board with establishing the scholarship fund in her name. On Thursday, June 6, Rodgers and hospital leaders honored eight students pursuing careers in healthcare with $3,500 scholarships.

“I am so glad that these scholarships can help students pursuing careers in healthcare,” said Rodgers. “A hospital needs more than just doctors and nurses, although we’ll take all the nurses we can get.”

This year’s scholarship winners were:

  • Anuoluwapo “Anu” Olusanya – a nursing student at Georgia State University.
  • Kristen Ashley Long – a nursing student at Middle Georgia State Universty.
  • Jessica Carrington – a recent graduate of Dutchtown High School pursuing a nursing degree at Valdosta State University.
  • Victoria Chin-You – an RN in Piedmont Henry’s Outpatient Surgery Center.
  • Lisanna Hernandez Caba – a Georgia State University student nearing completion of her Physical Therapy Exercise Science program.
  • Alana Maxine Holiday Lewis – a Dutchtown High School graduate pursuing a radiation therapy career.
  • Cierra Danielle Malcome – a student at Fort Valley State University pursuing a career as a licensed physical therapist.
  • Ansley Elizabeth Harvey – a  recent graduate of Ola High School pursuing a career as a nurse at Kennesaw State University.

“Nursing is not just a job, it is a calling and a privilege,” said Paula Butts, Chief Nursing Officer at Piedmont Henry. “These scholarships have the ability to help people grow in this profession. We are very proud of all of these recipients.”

Scholarship selections were based on scholastic record, character, leadership qualities, participation in student and community activities, and interest and knowledge of chosen health career. Applications for the scholarship will open again next spring. To donate to the Joyce Rodgers scholarship fund, visit give.piedmont.org/Henry and select Joyce Rodgers scholarship fund from the menu.
